THE FAN (1996)

Now introducing the S.F. Giants most loyal fan Gil Renard. Gil (played by Robert DeNiro) a cutlery salesman by trade and full-time passionate fan who cares more for the team than he does his job, child, ex-wife, friends, and his own sanity.  

His high expectations for players are unobtainable, especially for newcomer Bobby Rayburn (Wesley Snipes) who runs into some bad luck during his first game.  Rare opening day tickets became Gil's entry to his downward slide to losing his job, abandoning his child, and having his ex-wife chew his ass out!  

As the season progresses and nothing to personally loose, Gil finds a way to help Bobby and the team standings. Superb direction from Tony Scott makes this realistic film a must see with a homerun ending.
